Healthy Heart Rate.

A normal resting heart rate, as explained in heart rate is the rate of heartbeats which is between 60 to 100 beats per second. A healthy heart rate or a healthy heart beat rate differs from the normal heart rate and is explained below.  

Normal Healthy Heart Rate.

Measuring heart rate helps a training athlete to determine the efficiency of his or her heart and whether he or she is having a normal healthy heart rate. As training progresses, a decreased resting heart rate at rest indicates that the heart is pumping with greater efficiency. In the first 6 to 12 weeks of training, resting heart rate decreases by 5% to 10%.

This happens because athletes develop better heart muscle due to their regular physical activity. And because of better heart muscle, at each heart beat, their heart pumps blood more efficiently.

In other words, at each beat their heart pumps out more blood to the body. The heart rate therefore slows down because the body requirements are met with lesser heart beats per minute. A slower resting heart rate in an athlete, therefore is a healthy resting heart rate.

Lance Armstrong, the American professional road cyclist, has a resting heart rate of 32 beats per minute. This indicates a healthy resting heart rate for him.

But a persistent slow resting heart rate, below 60 bpm, in non athletes indicates heart damage – most probably an inefficient electric conduction system of the heart, wherein the electric impulses are blocked and the heart is missing beats. Medical advice is required in such cases.

Parameters of healthy heart rate in men and healthy heart rate in women are the same and gender does not influence the same.
