Joys of Pregnancy.

Pregnancy is one joy belonging exclusively to the woman. This is explicitly what makes the woman more important than man in keeping the human race going. Though man plays an important role, the woman contributes much more in this human function. And she enjoys every bit of it in spite of the stress, pain and complications that she may have to face during the nine months of pregnancy.

She waits in anticipation for her child to be born so that she can love it, nurture it, suffer for it and make it fit for this world.

Mary Mason rightly puts it:

“A baby is something you carry inside you for nine months, in your arms for three years and in your heart till the day you die.”

What is Pregnancy.

Pregnancy is a state in a woman’s life when she conceives and goes on to nurture the fetus (unborn child) inside her womb for 38 weeks after conception or 40 weeks after her last period. Sometimes there are multiple pregnancies when the woman gives birth to two babies (twins) or three babies (triplets) or sometimes more.

Premature Labor.

There are variations in this and the child may be born before or a little after. Occasionally the woman may go into premature labor before the 37th week of pregnancy and a child born prematurely is called a premature baby. Premature labor occurs in about 12% of all pregnancies.

Late Labor.

Late labor is also seen and the baby may well choose to be born in the tenth month of pregnancy. 70% of the times this is due to miscalculation of the date of the last missed period making you think that it is the tenth month instead of the ninth.

The first thing that both the husband and wife are concerned about after marriage, is whether they will have a child. This is because though most women conceive (become pregnant) easily, some take time while some may never enjoy motherhood. The reason  need not lie with the woman but not getting pregnant can also be due to a man not being able to make the woman pregnant. Pregnancy therefore calls for congratulations from all in society whom you know.
