Computer and Stress.

Long hours in front of a computer, day in and day out give rise to mental stress. People working in IT and such other companies have targets to achieve and these targets are stiff. To top it, incentives are offered which goad us to achieve those targets. After all, we are working for money and who does not want more money!

As a result of this mind set, we tend to ignore a few things and put long hours into our work . This results in change in our routine life.

What was our routine life? Well, we all had our various routines, but there are certain common factors:-

We,

  • Socialize,
  • go for plays or the movies,
  • meet friends and relatives,
  • go to the clubs and interact with people we meet there,
  • go to the health club or for a swim,
  • spend adequate time with our family.
  • And etc.

These routines are disturbed and instead we sit all alone banging away at the keyboard and staring at the monitor, with that tension of completing the day’s work and more.

What happens? A feeling of loneliness creeps in. Loneliness over prolonged period develops into stress. And stress over a prolonged period gives rise to depression.

Symptoms of depression:

  • >Emptiness and despair that does not go away.
  • >The joy of living life does not exist any more.
  • >Friends do not interest you
  • >Do not feel energetic.
  • >Changes in your sleeping and eating habits.
  • >Cannot concentrate.

On finding such symptoms, one must seek professional help promptly. There is no need to feel wary about this. Because let me tell you, that many famous and successful people do take professional guidance, when they feel the need to be talked to. After all , the major part of the treatment consists of a fulfilling talk that will make you feel better.

How to prevent mental stress.

Cut the problem in the bud! As soon as you start feeling mental stress, you will realize it. Mental stress over a short period is okay. Everybody has it, more so in today’s days of competition.

But, if it becomes a force of habit and has sort of, come to stay , then you must give it a serious thought. Spend some time alone and see how you can change the monotonous routine . Only you can find the way and you will. Discuss it with your wife and/or a trusted friend. The answer may or may not come immediately and may take a few days. But it will.

After all, life comes only once! Learn to enjoy it. Work will always be there. Conquer it . Do not let it conquer you!
