Computer and Health.
And I found it apt to begin my first post with computer related health problems caused by this so very wonderful thing – the computer, with which we spend so many hours together. This also applies to those of us, who work long hours at our office desks reading and writing.
Eye and Computer.

Firstly, ennumerated below are some of the health problems caused by the computer due to sitting in front of it for long hours. Starting from head to toe :- 1] Eye strain due to computer use. 2] Neck pain ( or pain in the neck) due to computer use. 3] Tingling, numbness and pain in the hand due to computer use. 4] Lower back pain due to computer use 5] Mental stress which may lead to depression 6] Radiation from the monitor
1] Eye strain due to Computer use.
Some of us must be aware that we have a lens inside our eye, and this lens contracts and expands depending on where we are focusing our eyes , whether at a close object or at an object far away. This is exactly like a spectacle . wherein a thick or thin glass is used to view objects close by or far away. Similarly, the lens expands or contracts to the required size so that the light rays coming from the object converge exactly on the retina and the object is viewed clearly (refraction). The retina, incidentally is situated on the back wall of the eyeball. Now , this contraction and expansion is brought about by certain eye muscles attached to the eye lens which tighten or loosen and give the eye lens the required width so that the light rays from the object are directed to converge exactly on the retina to view the object clearly. When we focus on the monitor for a long period, these eye muscles are in that position of contraction or expansion for that prolonged period and hence get strained. When this goes on repeatedly and for long periods, these eye muscles get weakened and they are unable to operate the lens as required. That is when the need for the spectacle arises . Looking at the computer for prolonged periods also exposes the eye to the continuous glare from the monitor and causes eye strain and this may manifest as eye pain or even a headache computer glare
What should we do then to avoid this problem and yet continue working on the comp? You will find the answer “here”.
Your action step.
