Phentermine.
Generic Name: Phentermine.
Brand names: Adipex-P, Ionamin, Pro-Fas
Phentermine is a diet pill for weight loss in obesity. Since clinical trials conducted for phentermine diet pills were for short periods and because of the potential of phentermine abuse, this is an approved weight loss drug for short term use only (three months or less). To lose weight, phentermine is recommended to be taken for not more than 12 weeks.
It was approved by the FDA as early as 1959 and is available by prescription only. It is an appetite suppressant and belongs to a class of drugs called sympathomimetic amines. It works by suppressing your hunger and/or making you feel full for a longer time.
