Treatment for cancer is started only after a conclusive diagnosis of cancer is arrived at and not just by the symptoms and signs which suggest cancer.
There are a few treatment options to cure cancer. These treatment options may be used singly or in combination. The type of treatment which the cancer specialist will opt on will be decided after he has examined in depth, the patient and the test report of the cancer investigations.

What in general, will the cancer specialist look for before deciding on the course of the cancer treatment? He will look at:
- The general condition of the patient, which will include the age, any other accompanying health disease and general debility.
- The location of the malignant tumor.
- The type of cancer.
- The stage of cancer.
- Whether there is metastasis. (spread of cancer).
Cancer Therapy.
There are standard treatments which are being used to treat cancer. Before starting the cancer treatment, the doctor will educate the patient on why he has opted for a particular treatment or treatment combination. He will also spell out the side effects, which the patient will experience during and after the treatment.
