Telling a patient that he has cancer, is like signing his death warrant. The doctor therefore, has to be definite about his diagnosis of cancer before he gives the patient the bad news.

Tests for Cancer.

Telling the patient that he has malignancy and he has only so many days or months or years to live, is going to make the remaining life of not only the patient miserable, but also that of his dear and near ones, which include his family, relatives, friends and colleagues.

The results of the cancer test will also determine the type of treatment that has to be   administered to the patient, which will further determine the prognosis of cancer.

The importance of testing for cancer therefore cannot be overstressed. Diagnosing cancer, the type of cancer and the stage of cancer is the most important factor to determine the type of treatment to be administered to the cancer patient. The right diagnosis of cancer will enable the cancer specialist to choose the right cancer treatment which in turn will enable a better prognosis. Cancer tests will also tell your doctor whether there is metastasis.

After having come to a differential diagnosis of cancer through the signs and symptoms or any early warning signs indicating cancer, the doctor then orders a series of specific cancer tests in order to confirm the diagnosis of cancer.

The following are various tests that a patient suspected of cancer may have to undergo.

1) Blood tests for cancer.

3) Radiological tests for cancer.

4) Cancer Biopsy.

5) Gene testing for cancer.
